Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a product you took from initial concept and business case all the way to launch. Where did it nearly go off track?

What they are checking: Whether they have actually owned the full launch path or only touched one stage of it.

Tell me about a time you decided to retire or reposition a product late in its lifecycle. What did the data tell you?

What they are checking: Whether they manage the whole lifecycle, including the unglamorous decision to sunset something.

Give me an example of feedback from a customer or sales rep that changed a product decision you had already made.

What they are checking: Whether they stay open to field input and can admit an early call was wrong.

What would you do

You report to the Director of Marketing but sales and engineering both want different things from the roadmap. How do you decide what goes first?

What they are checking: Whether they can set priorities with a clear rationale and keep peers on board without formal authority.

A launch date is three weeks out and testing shows a fixture fails a load spec. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they protect quality and the customer relationship over a calendar date, and communicate early.

This role is in our Milwaukee office two to three days a week. How do you keep cross-functional work moving on the days you are remote?

What they are checking: Whether they have habits that keep a hybrid launch team coordinated and informed.

About the work

Retail Space Solutions sells store fixtures to grocers and mass retailers. How would you go about specifying market requirements for a new fixture line?

What they are checking: Whether they gather requirements from real store operators and buyers rather than guessing from a desk.

How do you build a revenue forecast for a new product introduction when there is no sales history to lean on?

What they are checking: Whether they can reason from comparable products and customer commitments and state their assumptions plainly.

What goes into a go-to-market plan you would hand to the sales team for a product launch?

What they are checking: Whether they know sales needs pricing, positioning, objection handling and timing, not just a brochure.

How do you make sure products across a portfolio stay aligned instead of competing with each other?

What they are checking: Whether they think about cannibalization, gaps and pricing ladders across the whole line.
