Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you reduced cycle time without hurting quality.

What they are checking: Whether they understand the cooling and blow time tradeoffs and can prove quality held after the change.

Tell me about a time you trained technicians or operators on a new process. How did you know it stuck?

What they are checking: Whether they follow up after training, since process gains disappear when shifts drift back to old habits.

What would you do

You'll travel regularly between Alsip, Baytown, and Lavonia. How do you keep projects moving at the plants you're not at that week?

What they are checking: Whether they can manage a multi-site workload with clear handoffs and plant contacts who carry the work.

Scrap is high on one IBC line because of contamination and flash. How would you go about bringing it down?

What they are checking: Whether they can separate material handling, regrind, and tooling causes and attack the biggest one first.

How do you handle a resin lot change that starts affecting how the machine runs?

What they are checking: Whether they know melt flow varies by lot and can adjust the process and work with suppliers on it.

About the work

Tell me about your hands-on experience with plastic blow molding. What kind of machines and parts have you worked with?

What they are checking: Whether they have real blow molding depth, since the role supports large IBC bottles across several plants.

Walk me through how you'd adjust the parison to fix uneven wall thickness on a large bottle.

What they are checking: Whether they understand parison programming and die gap control, which drive wall distribution and part weight.

The posting asks for PLC programming experience. Tell me about a PLC change you made on a molding line.

What they are checking: Whether they can safely modify logic themselves rather than waiting on an outside integrator.

How do you set up a process window that operators can run consistently across shifts?

What they are checking: Whether they document settings and limits clearly so the process does not depend on one skilled person.

A bottle passes weight but fails a drop test. What would you look at?

What they are checking: Whether they think past weight to wall distribution, pinch-off strength, and resin properties.
