Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
This is third shift, 11 PM to 7:30 AM Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays. How have you handled overnight work before, and what keeps you sharp at 5 in the morning?
What they are checking: Whether they have a realistic plan for night work, since fatigue on third shift drives most quality misses and injuries.
Tell me about a time you worked with your hands on an assembly or machine job. What did you learn about doing it right every time?
What they are checking: Whether they have real experience with repetitive hands-on work and take pride in consistency rather than speed alone.
This role is under direct supervision. Tell me about a time a supervisor corrected how you were doing something. How did you take it?
What they are checking: Whether they are coachable in an entry-level role where following established procedure matters more than personal preference.
You're the last person to check a bottle before it ships. How do you stay focused on quality when you've looked at hundreds of the same part?
What they are checking: Whether they understand that verifying finished work is their responsibility and have a way to fight inspection fatigue.
What would you do
You're trimming flash off a bottle and notice the same spot has extra flash on every part. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they see a repeating defect as a machine problem to report, not just extra trimming work to absorb quietly.
You find a dark speck inside a bottle during the contamination check, but the line is behind. How do you handle it?
What they are checking: Whether they will stop a suspect part under schedule pressure, because contaminated containers can ruin a customer's product.
You'll install the metal head on the bottle, run a leak test, and put in plugs. If a bottle fails the leak test, what happens next?
What they are checking: Whether they follow the reject process and look for the cause, rather than retesting until a part happens to pass.
About the work
When a bottle comes off the blow molder, walk me through what you look for during the visual inspection.
What they are checking: Whether they know what a bad part looks like, such as thin walls, flashing, or contamination, before it moves down the line.
The job includes checking bottle weight. Why do you think weight matters on an IBC bottle, and what would you do if one came in light?
What they are checking: Whether they connect weight to wall thickness and strength, and know a light bottle should be held instead of passed.
What safety habits do you bring to a job around hot plastic, moving machines, and heavy containers?
What they are checking: Whether they think about burns, pinch points, and lifting on their own, not just when someone reminds them.
