Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about the most difficult HPDC defect you have solved. How did you find the root cause?

What they are checking: Whether they have real experience solving casting problems with structured methods.

Describe a DOE you ran. What did you learn that you would not have found by changing one variable at a time?

What they are checking: Whether they have practical DOE experience and understand interactions between variables.

How have you used Lean or Six Sigma tools in a casting environment?

What they are checking: Whether they apply continuous improvement methods in real practice, not just in theory.

How do you mentor less experienced engineers or technicians?

What they are checking: Whether they can share expertise and lift the skills of the team around them.

What would you do

Scrap on one cell is high but OEE looks fine. What might be going on?

What they are checking: Whether they can dig beyond a summary metric to find hidden losses.

How do you work with controls engineering when a shot-end issue might be a sensor or hydraulic problem?

What they are checking: Whether they can separate process, equipment, and controls causes and work across teams.

You are asked to cut cycle time by 10 percent without hurting quality. How do you approach it?

What they are checking: Whether they can find time savings safely using data rather than guesswork.

About the work

How do you set a process window that holds Cpk on a critical dimension?

What they are checking: Whether they understand capability well enough to set parameters that keep parts in spec over time.

Walk me through how you would support a new product launch from die trial to PPAP.

What they are checking: Whether they can own the process side of a launch, including capability studies and documentation.

How do vacuum assist or die cooling changes affect porosity and cycle time?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the tradeoffs between quality and productivity in HPDC.

How would you give input on die design for gating and venting before the die is built?

What they are checking: Whether they can influence tooling early to prevent defects later.
