Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time a patient asked for an antibiotic or a controlled medication you didn't think was appropriate. How did you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can say no in a way that keeps the patient's trust, which matters even more without the rapport of an exam room.

Describe how you keep your documentation thorough without falling behind when visits are back to back.

What they are checking: Whether they have habits that keep charts accurate and timely, which protects patients and the care team picking up the thread.

Why primary care in a virtual model rather than a traditional clinic?

What they are checking: Whether their motivation fits the work and they will stay engaged with a model built on access and convenience.

Tell me about a time a patient was frustrated with the healthcare system before they ever got to you. How did you turn the visit around?

What they are checking: Whether they can make care feel human and respectful, which is central to improving the patient experience this practice aims for.

What would you do

A patient on a virtual visit reports chest tightness that started an hour ago but says they feel mostly fine now. Talk me through what you do.

What they are checking: Whether they escalate red-flag symptoms quickly and safely, even when the patient downplays them and the visit is remote.

How do you handle mental health concerns, like a patient who mentions passive thoughts of self-harm, during a quick virtual visit?

What they are checking: Whether they can screen for safety, act on risk and connect patients to behavioral health without rushing past the disclosure.

What does a good handoff look like when you order labs virtually and the patient goes to an on-site lab or an in-office provider for follow-up?

What they are checking: Whether they close loops on results and coordinate with the wider care team so nothing falls through the gaps.

About the work

What do you find you can and can't do well in a video or messaging visit compared with an in-person exam?

What they are checking: Whether they know the clinical limits of virtual care and can recognize when a patient needs to be seen in person.

How do you manage a chronic condition like diabetes or hypertension for a patient you may never meet in person?

What they are checking: Whether they can run chronic care management through remote monitoring, labs and follow-up instead of treating each visit as a one-off.

Our virtual team covers patients across many states. How do you approach licensure, local resources and differences in standard practice when you're treating someone far away?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the practical and regulatory side of multi-state telehealth and can refer patients to care near them.

How do you decide when a common illness can be treated over video and when you need to send someone to urgent care or the emergency room?

What they are checking: Whether their triage judgment is sound and consistent, so patients are neither over-referred nor sent home unsafely.
