Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you had to sell someone on something they weren't planning to buy that day. What did you say, and how did it land?

whether the candidate can handle unplanned, face-to-face sales conversations versus just responding to inbound interest

Tell me about your background in animal care. What did that job actually involve day to day?

whether the 3-5 years animal care requirement is real and relevant, not just résumé padding

Tell me about a relationship you built with a partner organization or key contact that made your job easier over time.

capacity to manage the shelter partnership relationship, not just transact with individual customers

Describe a month where you missed a sales goal. What happened and what did you do differently the next month?

self-accountability and whether the candidate has a real process for course-correcting, not just excuses

Tell me about a time you had to manage your own schedule, expenses, or paperwork without someone checking in on you daily.

self-starter capability for the administrative and expense-reporting parts of the job that get less attention than sales

Technical

How would you explain the difference between Fetch's coverage and a typical competitor's plan to someone who's never heard of pet insurance before?

product knowledge and ability to translate insurance jargon into plain language for a first-time buyer

Do you currently hold a P&C license, and if not, how do you feel about studying for one on a 30-day clock while also working?

realistic assessment of licensing timeline and whether the candidate can handle self-directed study under pressure

How do you keep track of prospects you talk to but who don't buy on the spot, and what's your approach to following up with them?

discipline around CRM use and pipeline follow-through, since this is a stated job duty

What do you know about Fetch's coverage compared to other pet insurance companies, and what would you tell a skeptical pet parent who says insurance isn't worth it?

depth of product and competitive knowledge going into the interview, and objection-handling instinct

Situational

Someone walks up to adopt a pet at the shelter and seems annoyed that you're pitching insurance right after they just paid adoption fees. What do you do?

ability to read the room and adjust approach without losing the sale or damaging the shelter partnership

This role wants you working Friday through Sunday, the busiest adoption days. How do you feel about structuring your week that way, and what would your typical weekend look like?

whether the candidate has genuinely absorbed the schedule requirement, not just agreed to it in passing

A shelter partner tells you their adopters are complaining that your sales pitch feels pushy. How do you respond to them and what do you change?

ability to balance sales targets against partner satisfaction and brand reputation

If you noticed adoption traffic was slow on a given day, what would you do with that downtime to still hit your numbers for the week?

resourcefulness and proactive thinking in a role paid on results rather than hours worked
