Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through how you lead a shift crew through shipping, receiving, storing and issuing materials when you're also expected to do the work yourself.

What they are checking: Whether they can balance hands-on work with directing others so neither the floor nor the team gets neglected.

Tell me about a time production was waiting on a part and you had to find it fast.

What they are checking: Whether they understand that a line down for material is the most expensive thing a materials team can cause.

Tell me about a time someone on your crew kept making the same mistake. How did you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can correct a peer directly and fairly without becoming the person everyone avoids.

Describe a stockroom you organized or improved. What did you change and why?

What they are checking: Whether they think about layout and flow on their own instead of just working around a messy space.

What would you do

A truck shows up and the count on the pallet doesn't match the packing slip. What do you do before anything gets put away?

What they are checking: Whether they stop bad receipts at the dock instead of letting a discrepancy turn into an inventory problem later.

This role runs 6:30 to 6:30 on a rotating schedule. How do you make sure the next shift picks up cleanly where yours left off?

What they are checking: Whether they treat shift handoff as a real task, since lost information between crews causes most missed issues.

How do you decide what to work on first when the program manager isn't around and three requests land at once?

What they are checking: Whether they can prioritize with limited supervision, which the posting says this lead is expected to do.

How do you keep a forklift and material-handling area safe when people are tired late in a long shift?

What they are checking: Whether safety stays front of mind for them when fatigue and pressure push crews to cut corners.

About the work

How do you keep inventory records accurate on a twelve-hour shift when material is moving constantly?

What they are checking: Whether they have real habits for transaction discipline, like scanning in real time and cycle counting, not just good intentions.

What would you check when inspecting incoming materials, and when would you put something on hold instead of storing it?

What they are checking: Whether they know where the quality line is and are willing to quarantine material rather than push it through.

What systems have you used to transact inventory, and how quickly do you pick up a new one?

What they are checking: Whether they can work comfortably inside an ERP or warehouse system, since accuracy depends on using it correctly.
