Tell me about a time you had to step into a different area because another team was short.

What would you do

You're picking an order and the location in the WMS is empty. What's your next step?
What they are checking: Whether they investigate and report inventory discrepancies instead of grabbing something close enough.
About the work
Tell me about your forklift experience. What kinds of trucks have you run and what loads have you moved?
What they are checking: Real seat time and range of equipment, since long aluminum loads and tight aisles take more than a basic certification.
Walk me through your pre-shift forklift inspection.
What they are checking: Whether they actually inspect the truck every shift, checking forks, chains, brakes, horn and fluids, and tag it out when needed.
How do you handle a long or off-balance load, like bundles of extrusion, when you're moving it through the plant?
What they are checking: Understanding of load center, balance and travel speed, which prevents tipped loads and damaged product.
How do you read a basic blueprint or work instruction to confirm you have the right material?
What they are checking: Whether they can match part numbers, lengths and finishes to paperwork, which keeps orders accurate.
