Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you found a food safety gap at an external manufacturing site. What did you do and what happened after you left?

whether the candidate can drive corrective action at a plant they don't directly manage

Tell me about a time a plant manager pushed back hard on a quality requirement because it slowed down production. How did you handle it?

ability to hold the line on food safety while still working the relationship, not just issuing mandates

Describe a situation where you had to influence someone senior to you, or outside your reporting line, to change how they were running quality at their site.

influencing skill without formal authority, since this role has indirect reports only

Tell me about a time you had to build up a plant quality team's capability from a low starting point. What did you actually train them on and how did you know it worked?

ability to develop others' skills, since coaching plant quality managers is core to this job

Tell me about a time you rolled out a new quality tool or process across multiple plants. What resistance did you hit and how did adoption actually go?

real experience driving network-wide change versus single-site fixes

Technical

How do you approach an FSSC 22000 certification audit at a plant that's never gone through one before?

depth of hands-on knowledge with the specific quality system named in the posting

What's your experience with microbiology testing and sanitation programs in a snacks or confections environment specifically?

whether the category-specific manufacturing knowledge is real, since the posting calls it out directly

What statistical tools or problem-solving methods do you actually use when a plant has a recurring quality deviation, and can you walk me through one example?

whether the statistical process control knowledge listed on the resume is applied knowledge or just a keyword

What regulatory bodies and standards do you consider when you're assessing a US plant's compliance, beyond FSSC and ISO 9001?

breadth of regulatory literacy beyond the two systems named in the posting

Situational

Say you're reviewing HACCP plans across three co-manufacturers and you find they're each interpreting a critical control point differently. What do you do?

how they standardize quality practice across a decentralized network rather than treating each site as a one-off

If a co-manufacturer fails a third-party audit two weeks before a scheduled retail shipment, how do you sequence your response?

crisis prioritization and whether food safety wins over shipping pressure

You're at 50 percent travel and two plants both need you the same week for audit prep. How do you decide where you go and what do you do about the plant you can't visit?

judgment under competing demands and comfort delegating or using remote tools
