Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

The role asks for familiarity with city and state building codes and OSHA requirements. Tell me about finding something that did not meet code.

What they are checking: Willingness to raise a compliance problem in someone else's area.

This is a level two role in Lincolnshire asking five or more years, preferably in manufacturing, machining or tool and die, with lifting up to fifty pounds, ladders and scaffolds. What would you want to know about the equipment on site before accepting?

What they are checking: That they ask what they would be maintaining.

What would you do

This covers production CNC and machining equipment alongside the building, heating and ventilation, and property. How do you split your day between machines that are down and preventive work that is due?

What they are checking: The core prioritization of a plant maintenance seat.

A CNC lathe goes down mid-shift and production is waiting. Walk me through your first twenty minutes.

What they are checking: Method and composure when the line is stopped.

How do you decide whether to repair something now or schedule it for a planned shutdown?

What they are checking: Judgment about production impact versus risk.

About the work

The posting names Fanuc and Mitsubishi logic and troubleshooting logic controllers. Walk me through diagnosing a machine that stops with no clear fault code.

What they are checking: Real controls troubleshooting rather than parts swapping.

Preventive maintenance here includes coolant, oil and filter changes, electrical inspections and calibrations. Why does a skipped preventive maintenance cycle cost more than it saves?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the economics or just follow the list.

You would handle hazardous waste including acetone, mineral spirits and solvents. How do you handle and document that correctly?

What they are checking: Waste handling as a compliance matter, named directly in the duties.

You complete daily standard work task lists and event reports in a computerized maintenance management system. Why does the record matter as much as the repair?

What they are checking: Documentation discipline, which is what makes maintenance data useful.

The posting says you must have your own tools, meters, gauges and calipers. What is in your kit, and what would you want the company to provide?

What they are checking: A concrete answer that reveals how they actually work.
