Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Tell me about a time you had to hit a strict production number, like a picking quota, and how you kept your accuracy up while moving fast.

evidence they can sustain the 100 lines per hour target without accuracy dropping

Tell me about a time you found an error in your own inventory counts. How did you figure out what went wrong and fix it?

willingness to own mistakes and do root cause analysis instead of just correcting the number

What does keeping a clean and organized General Stores area actually mean to you, beyond just sweeping the floor?

whether they grasp housekeeping as tied to safety, accuracy, and visual management, not just tidiness

This schedule rotates between weekday and weekend shifts every other week. What has your experience been with rotating schedules, and how do you manage the adjustment?

realistic readiness for the specific rotating shift pattern, not just willingness to say yes

Some of the lifting on this job can go up to 35 pounds, sometimes with help from a coworker or equipment. Tell me about your experience with physical work like that.

honest self-assessment of physical capability and safe lifting practices

Describe a time you had to work closely with a team where everyone's part affected the others, like picking, delivery, and restocking. What made that work or not work?

collaborative mindset given how interdependent the receiving, picking, and distribution steps are in this role

Technical

Walk me through how you would restock a 2-Bin location and make sure the inventory count stays accurate afterward.

whether the candidate actually understands the 2-bin replenishment and cycle count process, not just the concept of restocking

Have you used scanning technology or handheld devices for receiving or distribution before? What did that process look like day to day?

real hands-on familiarity with barcode scanning workflows versus vague exposure

Have you worked with any inventory or warehouse management systems, like a mainframe or PC-based system? Which ones, and what did you use them for?

concrete system experience that maps to tools like Lawson or DemandTrack rather than general computer literacy

How would you go about tracking down why a particular inventory area keeps showing cycle count errors quarter after quarter?

analytical thinking around trend charts and continuous improvement rather than one-off fixes

Situational

This role expects at least 60 lines picked per hour, ideally 100. How would you approach the first few weeks if you were picking well below that pace?

self-awareness about ramp-up expectations and a realistic improvement plan rather than overconfidence

You find a product in a bin that's past its expiration date during a routine check. What do you do with it, step by step?

knowledge of FEFO rotation and the non-conforming product process, including documentation

An incoming shipment doesn't match the purchase order or the ship-to location is unclear. Walk me through how you'd handle it.

problem-solving process for receiving discrepancies and whether they escalate appropriately

You're asked to do a supplement restock in the middle of your regular route, and a unit is also calling about a missing item. How do you decide what to do first?

ability to prioritize competing, time-sensitive demands independently
