Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you challenged a business leader's assumptions in a forecast or plan.

What they are checking: Whether they provide objective pushback while keeping a strong working relationship.

Describe a time you drove accountability for financial results with a team you didn't manage.

What they are checking: Whether they can influence performance through clear tracking and conversations, not authority.

Tell me about a recommendation you made that turned out wrong. What did you learn?

What they are checking: Whether they own mistakes and improve their judgment rather than defending a bad call.

What would you do

You'd support the CMP Slurries, Pads, and Substrates SBUs. How would you learn what drives profit in each one?

What they are checking: Whether they plan to understand each business's operations and markets, not just its financial statements.

Two SBUs both want investment, and there isn't money for both. How do you help prioritize?

What they are checking: Whether they can compare competing needs with fair, fact-based analysis and recommend a path.

This role is onsite in Aurora. How would you use that to be a better business partner?

What they are checking: Whether they see value in being close to operations and building relationships face to face.

About the work

Walk me through how you'd build a business case for a new production line investment.

What they are checking: Whether they can model returns, risks, and sensitivities and present them clearly for a decision.

How would you explain a margin decline to SBU leaders who aren't finance people?

What they are checking: Whether they can translate financial drivers into plain business terms leaders can act on.

What's your approach to building a forecast that combines operational, market, and financial data?

What they are checking: Whether they connect different data sources into one realistic view instead of using only history.

How do you identify financial risks early before they show up in monthly results?

What they are checking: Whether they use leading indicators and talk to the business regularly to see issues coming.
