Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a predictive model you built that made it to production. What happened after it launched?

What they are checking: Experience past the notebook, including monitoring, drift and whether the model actually changed outcomes.

How do you guide data scientists on your team without taking over their work?

What they are checking: Leadership style that builds others' skills and ownership rather than becoming the bottleneck.

Tell me about a time you translated a complex analysis into a business recommendation that was acted on.

What they are checking: Ability to connect technical work to clinical, operational or economic outcomes leaders care about.

What would you do

A stakeholder wants a model that predicts something your data can't really support. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Honesty about data limits and ability to reframe the problem into something the data can answer.

You have three promising projects and capacity for one. How do you choose?

What they are checking: Prioritizing by value, feasibility and strategic fit, and influencing technical strategy accordingly.

About the work

Walk me through an agentic AI workflow you would design that combines an LLM, retrieval and structured healthcare data.

What they are checking: Real design sense for tool use, grounding and guardrails, not just knowing the buzzwords.

How do you evaluate a generative AI solution before you trust it with client-facing healthcare insights?

What they are checking: Rigor in evaluation methods for accuracy and hallucination, which matters more when outputs affect clinical or financial decisions.

When would you choose a simple statistical model over machine learning or an LLM?

What they are checking: Judgment to use the simplest approach that works, which keeps solutions explainable and cheaper to maintain.

How have you used unsupervised learning or NLP on messy unstructured data like clinical notes or supply descriptions?

What they are checking: Hands-on depth with unstructured healthcare data, which this role names explicitly.

What does good governance look like for a data science solution in healthcare?

What they are checking: Awareness of data privacy, model documentation, bias checks and reproducibility required for governed solutions.
