Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about an end-to-end test you ran that crossed several systems. What broke, and how did you find it?

What they are checking: Whether they can test across system boundaries where most real failures happen.

Describe a time you were the go-between for a business team and a technology team that were talking past each other.

What they are checking: Whether they can translate between business and technical language so both sides agree on the same thing.

Tell me about a process you improved in a past role. How did you measure that it was better?

What they are checking: Whether their process improvement work has measurable results rather than just good intentions.

What would you do

A business stakeholder signs off on requirements that you think are incomplete. What do you do before testing starts?

What they are checking: Whether they raise gaps early, when they are cheap to fix, instead of discovering them in production.

The release date is fixed by a CMS deadline and testing is behind. How do you decide what to test first?

What they are checking: Whether they prioritize by risk to members and compliance rather than testing in whatever order is easiest.

A defect you logged was marked low priority, but you believe it affects how members are billed. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they escalate with evidence when member impact is at stake instead of accepting a label.

About the work

Walk me through how you turn a business requirement into a set of test scenarios for a Medicare system change.

What they are checking: Whether they can trace each requirement to tests that prove it works, including the edge cases.

What CMS requirements have you worked with, and how did they shape the testing you did?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that Medicare work answers to regulators and testing has to prove compliance.

How do you make sure your test data is realistic without exposing real member information?

What they are checking: Whether they handle protected health information carefully even in test environments.

What makes healthcare business analysis harder than in other industries you know of?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the complexity of members, providers, regulation and money moving together.
