Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about an integration you built that was later easy for someone else to maintain. What made it that way?

What they are checking: Whether they document and design for the next person, which matters on a small enterprise systems team.

Tell me about a time you automated a manual process between two systems. What changed for the users?

What they are checking: Whether they think about the people the automation serves, not just the technical result.

What would you do

An overnight integration failed and payroll data did not update. What do you do first?

What they are checking: Whether they can troubleshoot quickly, limit the damage and communicate clearly to affected offices.

You assist the Senior Integration Architect. How do you work with a senior lead whose approach differs from yours?

What they are checking: Whether they can share ideas openly while respecting the lead's final call.

A department asks for a new data feed without a clear purpose. How do you work out what they really need?

What they are checking: Whether they gather requirements carefully instead of building exactly what was first asked for.

This is an in-office role at the East Peoria campus. What draws you to working on enterprise systems at a community college?

What they are checking: Whether they understand and want the setting, including in-office work and a public-sector pace.

About the work

Walk me through how you would design an integration that moves employee data from Workday into PeopleSoft.

What they are checking: Whether they can plan data mapping, timing and error handling between the two core systems the college runs.

What Workday integration tools have you used, like EIBs, Core Connectors or Studio, and when would you choose each?

What they are checking: Whether they have real hands-on Workday integration experience and can pick the simplest tool that works.

How do you keep integrations secure when they carry student or employee personal data?

What they are checking: Whether they protect sensitive data with encryption, least privilege and careful credential handling.

How do you monitor integrations so you hear about a failure before a user does?

What they are checking: Whether they build alerting and logging into their designs rather than waiting for complaints.

How have you connected cloud platforms using APIs, and how do you handle rate limits or changes in a vendor's API?

What they are checking: Whether they can build integrations that survive vendor updates without breaking.
