Say a VFD is throwing intermittent faults on a mixer line and the fault code doesn't point to an obvious cause. How would you narrow it down?
What they are checking: structured diagnostic method for a specific, common failure mode rather than parts-swapping
Can you read a schematic and tell me how you'd trace a circuit if you were handed a print you'd never seen before, for equipment you didn't install?
What they are checking: real fluency with blueprints and schematics versus just claiming familiarity
Describe your experience with PLCs on the plant floor. Have you ever modified logic, and if so, what was the situation?
What they are checking: whether the candidate has actual PLC programming or logic-editing experience, which is a preferred but not required skill
What does arc flash safety mean to you in practice, day to day, not just as a policy on paper?
What they are checking: whether safety knowledge is internalized habit or just something they can recite
How do you go about identifying and reporting recurring equipment losses in your area so the same failure doesn't keep coming back?
