Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This is a 12-hour rotating night shift from 6 PM to 6 AM with alternating weekends. How have you handled a schedule like that before?

What they are checking: Whether they can realistically sustain long night shifts, which is a major reason people leave these jobs.

This job can lead to extrusion operating and Process Technician roles. What interests you about growing into a technical role?

What they are checking: Whether they want to learn and advance, since the posting frames this as a career path.

Tell me about a time you noticed something unsafe at work. What did you do about it?

What they are checking: Safety awareness and willingness to speak up in a plant full of moving material.

How do you stay focused and careful at 4 AM, ten hours into a shift?

What they are checking: Personal habits for staying alert, because fatigue is when injuries and quality errors happen.

Tell me about a time you learned a new process or machine quickly.

What they are checking: Learning ability, which UFP relies on for people moving from labor into operating roles.

What does reliability mean to you on a rotating crew where people count on you to show up?

What they are checking: Attendance mindset, since one no-show on a 12-hour crew puts strain on everyone else.

What would you do

Your staple gun or banding tool keeps jamming during a busy run. What do you do?

What they are checking: Basic troubleshooting and knowing when to stop and get help rather than forcing broken equipment.

A coworker is stacking product in a way that doesn't match the customer specs. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Ability to address a quality issue with a peer respectfully instead of ignoring it.

About the work

You'll be handling composite lumber and stacking it to customer bundle specs. Why do you think the stacking pattern matters so much?

What they are checking: Understanding that bad stacking damages product and causes customer rejections, not just a messy pile.

How would you make sure every bundle is labeled with the right type, size and quantity?

What they are checking: Attention to detail on counts and tags, since mislabeled product ships to the wrong customer.
