Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This role is an independent contractor seat where you build your own practice. What makes you confident you can run a business, not just do the advising?

What they are checking: Whether they understand they are starting a business with its own costs and risks, not taking a salaried advisor job.

Tell me about a time a client or prospect said no. What did you do next?

What they are checking: Resilience under steady rejection, which every new practice runs into and which ends many advisor careers early.

You would collaborate with COUNTRY insurance agents to secure business. How do you make a partnership like that fair to both sides?

What they are checking: How they share clients and credit with peers, since referral partnerships fall apart quickly when one side feels used.

Your income here is uncapped but not guaranteed. How would you manage your own finances through a slow first year?

What they are checking: Personal financial readiness for commission income, since running out of runway is a common reason new advisors quit.

What would you do

Walk me through how you would find your first fifty clients in Bloomington or Peoria if you started next month.

What they are checking: Whether they have a realistic plan for prospecting in a real local market rather than hoping referrals arrive on their own.

The role asks you to establish an office and build a staff. What would your first hire do, and when would you make it?

What they are checking: Whether they can think about cash flow and delegation the way an owner has to, rather than as an employee.

How would you run a financial solutions seminar so people leave with something useful and not just a sales pitch?

What they are checking: Whether they can educate a room honestly, which builds the trust that turns attendees into clients over time.

A long-time client wants to move most of their savings into one investment a friend recommended. What do you say?

What they are checking: Whether they will push back on a risky decision with care, even when agreeing would be easier and keep the client happy.

About the work

You would sell across property and casualty, life and health, annuities and investments. How do you decide which product a client actually needs first?

What they are checking: Needs-based judgment across product lines, and whether they put the client's situation ahead of the biggest commission.

As a registered representative you work under securities rules. What does suitability mean to you in day-to-day practice?

What they are checking: Working knowledge of the compliance duty to recommend only what fits the client, which regulators enforce closely.

Which licenses do you hold today, and what is your plan for any you still need?

What they are checking: Whether they know the licensing path for securities and insurance and have a concrete timeline to get fully licensed.
