What would you do

How do you decide when to fix something yourself and when to escalate it to a trade or vendor?

Several tenants and departments ask you for help at once. How do you decide what comes first?

What they are checking: Whether they prioritize by safety and impact rather than by who asks loudest.

About the work

Walk me through how you troubleshoot a piece of kitchen equipment that stopped working in the middle of a lunch rush.

What they are checking: Whether they work logically from symptoms to cause instead of swapping parts and hoping.

What preventive maintenance have you done on a schedule, and why does it matter more than repairs?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that preventing failures is the main way to keep a busy building running.

Tell me about how you document a repair or work order so the next person knows what was done.

What they are checking: Whether their records are clear enough for others to follow, which the posting requires.

What safety practices do you follow, like lockout tagout, ladder safety or working around the public?

What they are checking: Whether they protect themselves and building users while working in a space open to students and guests.
