Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you developed or improved a test method. What prompted it and how did you validate it?

What they are checking: Ability to grow the lab's capabilities, since the role includes developing new test methods, not only running existing ones.

Tell me about a test you ran independently from start to finish with little guidance. What made it hard?

What they are checking: Capacity to execute duties independently through completion, which the posting stresses across all disciplines.

What would you do

A part fails radiated emissions by 3 dB at one frequency. What do you do before you call it a real failure?

What they are checking: Discipline about verifying setup, calibration and ambient noise before reporting results that affect a product program.

You're asked to train a newer technician on electrical tests like transients and voltage dropouts. How do you approach it?

What they are checking: Whether they can grow personnel, which the posting lists as a core part of this job.

A design engineer wants you to rush a test and skip a step to make a customer deadline. What do you say?

What they are checking: Holding to test integrity under schedule pressure while still helping the team find a workable path.

About the work

Walk me through how you set up a radiated emissions test on an automotive module, from the chamber to the final report.

What they are checking: Hands-on command of the test setup, including antenna placement, ground plane and load simulation, not just textbook knowledge.

What's the practical difference between conducted immunity and radiated immunity testing, and what failures do you typically see in each?

What they are checking: Whether they understand coupling paths well enough to connect a failure mode to the right test.

Which automotive EMC standards have you tested to, like CISPR 25, ISO 11452 or OEM-specific specs?

What they are checking: Familiarity with the standards and customer specs that drive the lab's daily work in the automotive industry.

How do you verify that your test equipment and calibration are good enough to trust the data?

What they are checking: Respect for calibration and quality control, which the posting names as part of verifying results.

How do you write a test report so an engineer who wasn't in the lab can trust and act on it?

What they are checking: Clear documentation habits, because test data only has value if others can follow and rely on it.
