Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you improved safety performance at multiple facilities. What actually changed?

What they are checking: Whether they've driven measurable results across sites, not just one location.

Tell me about a serious incident investigation you led. How did you find the root cause?

How would you report EHS progress to supply chain leadership so they act on it?

What would you do

How would you build a zero-harm safety culture across several plants with different histories and cultures?

What they are checking: Whether they can adapt one EHS vision to different sites instead of forcing a single script.

A site leader is behind on corrective actions and says production comes first. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can hold leaders accountable through influence rather than only escalation.

How do you keep site EHS teams motivated when you can only visit occasionally?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead a distributed team with clear direction and support.

About the work

What leading indicators would you track, and why aren't recordable rates enough?

What they are checking: Whether they manage safety proactively with near misses, observations and corrective action closure.

What environmental compliance areas would you expect at fabrication and building plants, and how would you manage them?

What they are checking: Whether they know air, waste, stormwater and permit obligations relevant to metal fabrication.

How do you harmonize EHS programs across sites without slowing each site down?

What they are checking: Whether they can set standards and share best practices while respecting local realities.

How would you connect EHS work to the company's sustainability goals?

What they are checking: Whether they can link energy, waste and emissions work to broader commitments.
