Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a media strategy you built that had to work across paid, social, and emerging channels at once. How did you decide where the budget went?

whether the candidate can actually design integrated, full-funnel strategy rather than just running channel-by-channel plans

Tell me about the largest media budget you've managed. How was it split across traditional and digital, and what made you shift dollars from one to another mid-campaign?

real scale and hands-on budget ownership versus inflated titles

Tell me about a time you had to negotiate media rates or placements with a vendor who wasn't budging. What did you do and how did it turn out?

negotiation skill and whether they can protect cost efficiency under real pressure

Give me an example of translating a pile of performance data into a story that changed an executive's mind about a media investment.

ability to turn quantitative data into a persuasive, qualitative narrative for leadership

Tell me about a time you had to build or reshape a media team's skills, especially around new technology or ways of working. What resistance did you hit and how did you handle it?

genuine people-leadership and capability-building experience versus theoretical management language

Describe a moment when an agency partner and your internal marketing strategy team disagreed on direction. How did you resolve it and keep the message consistent across channels?

skill as the connective tissue between agencies, creative, and internal stakeholders that the job explicitly calls out

Technical

How have you used AI or automation tools in targeting, personalization, or optimization, and what was the actual measurable lift?

whether AI experience is concrete and results-driven or just buzzword familiarity

Walk me through how you'd set up attribution and measurement for a cross-channel campaign so leadership trusts the ROI numbers you present.

depth of technical grounding in attribution and analytics, not just fluency with the vocabulary

Situational

Say you inherit a media team that's used to running channels in silos, with agencies dictating strategy instead of taking direction from your team. What's your first ninety days look like?

ability to lead organizational change and reset agency dynamics, not just plan media

How do you decide when to bring media into the creative development process earlier rather than later, and what's the risk of getting that timing wrong?

understanding of integrated media-creative workflows described in the posting, not siloed execution

If you had a healthcare campaign underperforming against its lagging metrics but strong on leading indicators, how would you decide whether to pull the plug or keep investing?

judgment in distinguishing leading versus lagging media health metrics under pressure to show results

How would you approach media strategy differently for a health system compared to retail or another industry you've worked in, given the regulatory and trust considerations?

whether they understand healthcare marketing's unique constraints or are treating this like any other vertical
