Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you had to turn a marketing or journey strategy into an actual operational build across multiple systems. What was the hand-off like and where did it get messy?

whether the candidate has really operated as the execution layer between strategy and delivery, not just designed strategy

Describe a situation where you had to influence a decision with a team you did not manage, like Security or Privacy, and they were pushing back on something you needed.

ability to lead through influence in a regulated, matrixed environment as the posting demands

Tell me about a person on your team who was struggling and how you handled it, especially if they were technically strong but weak on collaboration or vice versa.

real people-management experience matching the 5+ years managing others requirement

Describe a time you had to explain a technical or operational tradeoff to an executive audience who did not care about the technical details. How did you frame it?

ability to translate complexity for non-technical stakeholders, a named requirement in the posting

Tell me about a time a campaign or journey launch did not go as planned because of an operational gap you did not anticipate. What did you change afterward?

honesty about failure and capacity to build lasting process fixes rather than one-off patches

Technical

Tell me about your experience with marketing technology stacks like CDP, CMP, or marketing automation platforms. Which ones have you actually operated, and where did you hit their limits?

depth of real hands-on platform knowledge versus surface familiarity with the acronyms

Say a campaign is underperforming because of deliverability issues on email or SMS. How would you diagnose the problem and who would you pull in to fix it?

practical troubleshooting knowledge of channel operations, not just strategic thinking

How have you worked with privacy and consent requirements in a regulated industry, and how did that shape how you built or ran a messaging program?

real experience operating within compliance constraints, since healthcare consumer data carries HIPAA-level stakes

Tell me about a time you used AI-enabled personalization or intelligent channel selection in a campaign. What was the actual lift, and how did you know it worked?

whether AI experience is concrete and measured or just a buzzword on a resume

What does channel health actually look like to you day to day, meaning what metrics or signals tell you a channel is degrading before a campaign fails?

whether the candidate has operational fluency in monitoring deliverability and engagement performance, not just campaign results

Situational

How would you set up governance for campaign execution and channel health when you have Marketing, CRM, Epic, IT, and Analytics teams all touching the same consumer journey?

ability to design cross-functional governance in a matrixed org rather than just describe good intentions

If Epic, the CRM, and a digital consumer app all need to stay in sync for a single patient engagement journey, what could go wrong, and how would you build the process to prevent it?

understanding of the specific complexity of integrating clinical systems like Epic with marketing tools

How do you decide what to A/B test first when you have limited engineering or analytics bandwidth and a dozen ideas on the table?

prioritization skill and understanding of experimentation tradeoffs under real resource constraints
