Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you had to get product content live on a retailer site, like Walmart.com, under a tight deadline. What happened and how did you keep things on track?

whether the candidate can manage the real workflow of content syndication under time pressure

Tell me about a time you had to say no or push back on a request from sales or marketing because it wasn't going to serve the retail channel well. How did you handle it?

comfort acting as a brand steward and holding a line with internal stakeholders

Tell me about a time you had to keep a brand consistent across multiple retail channels that each had their own rules or formatting quirks. How did you manage that?

experience balancing centralized brand standards against retailer-specific requirements

Tell me about a project where you were juggling several retailers or product lines at once with different deadlines. How did you decide what to prioritize?

organizational skill and judgment under competing demands, which the role explicitly requires

Technical

Tell me about the PIM or DAM systems you've worked with, whether that's Widen, Salsify, Syndigo, InRiver, or something else. What did you actually do in the system day to day?

depth of hands-on experience with the specific tool categories the job requires, not just familiarity by name

Have you worked with Walmart Seller Center, Retail Link, or Amazon Vendor or Seller Central? What kinds of tasks did you do there and what tripped people up?

real exposure to retailer portals versus surface-level knowledge

How would you set up a monthly report that tracks organic versus paid traffic, conversion, and share of voice for a product line on Walmart.com? Walk me through what data you'd pull and from where.

whether the candidate actually knows how to build the specific metrics the job description calls out, not just talk about analytics generally

You're given a spreadsheet of content scores across a dozen SKUs on Walmart.com and asked to explain why conversion is down. What's your process for digging into that in Excel?

practical Excel and analytical skill for the kind of investigative reporting the role demands

What do you know about SEO for retail product pages, and how would that shape the way you write a title or bullet points for a listing on Walmart.com?

working knowledge of retail SEO principles as they apply to actual listing content

Situational

Say a divisional sales manager tells you a retailer wants updated content for a seasonal campaign, but doesn't give you a clear brief. What do you do?

ability to translate vague stakeholder asks into a concrete content plan without hand-holding

If you noticed a competitor's product page was consistently outperforming ours on a retailer site, how would you go about figuring out why and what you'd recommend changing?

instinct for competitive benchmarking and turning insight into an actionable content or SEO recommendation

Imagine the PIM team rolls out a new syndication process that changes how content gets pushed to retailers. How would you learn it and bring your stakeholders along with the change?

adaptability to evolving tools and ability to manage stakeholder communication through process change
