Your model performed well in testing but poorly after deployment. How do you investigate?

What they are checking: Whether they can diagnose data drift, leakage or pipeline issues methodically.

About the work

Walk me through a predictive model you built from problem definition to deployment.

What they are checking: Whether they can handle the full lifecycle, not just train models in a notebook.

How do you decide which machine learning approach to use for a business problem?

What they are checking: Whether they choose methods based on data, interpretability and business needs instead of defaulting to complex ones.

In banking, models often need to be explainable. How do you balance accuracy and interpretability?

What they are checking: Whether they understand model risk management and regulatory expectations in financial services.

How do you handle a heavily imbalanced dataset, such as fraud or default prediction?

What they are checking: Whether they know techniques and metrics that work when the outcome is rare.

How do you check a model for bias, especially in decisions that affect customers?

What they are checking: Whether they understand fairness obligations and how to test for disparate impact.

How do you validate that your features don't leak information from the future?

What they are checking: Whether they understand a common mistake that makes models look better than they really are.
