Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a data governance framework you helped design or implement. What actually changed for the client afterward?

What they are checking: Whether their governance work produced real decisions and owners, or just a document nobody used.

What's your experience across the implementation life cycle, from design through go-live and post-production support?

What they are checking: Whether they've seen projects all the way through, including the less glamorous support work after launch.

Tell me about a time you had to get data owners from different departments to agree on a single definition.

What they are checking: Whether they can facilitate agreement across groups with competing interests, the hardest part of governance work.

You're moving from another consulting firm. What do you want to do more of here?

What they are checking: Whether they have a clear reason for the move and a realistic idea of the growth they want.

What would you do

How would you start a data quality assessment for a client who says their data is a mess but can't say where?

What they are checking: Whether they can structure a vague problem into profiling, priorities and measurable quality rules.

During testing, the client finds duplicate customer records your design was supposed to prevent. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they own the issue, find the root cause and communicate clearly without getting defensive.

How would you train client staff so the data practices stick after Huron leaves?

What they are checking: Whether they plan for adoption and handoff, since consulting value disappears if the client cannot sustain it.

About the work

Walk me through how you'd design a data architecture for a client moving from scattered systems to a central platform.

What they are checking: Whether they can reason about sources, master data, integration and consumption layers in a way a client can follow.

How do you explain master data management to a business stakeholder who thinks it's an IT problem?

What they are checking: Whether they can make the business case for data ownership in plain language, which is half the job.

Which data management platforms have you configured hands on, and where did they fall short?

What they are checking: Whether their tool experience is real and critical, not a list of product names from a resume.
