Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Consumer lending regulations govern what has to be disclosed and when. Tell me about catching a disclosure problem before it went out.

What they are checking: Whether they understand consumer lending disclosure rules well enough to catch problems, since a missed or late disclosure creates real regulatory and borrower harm.

Tell me about an error you made in a document. How did you find it and what did you change?

What they are checking: Whether they own their mistakes honestly and changed their process afterward, which matters more in detail work than claiming never to make errors.

This is a Rosemont role in a small business lending segment paying $24.04 to $31.25 an hour plus bonus, asking three to five years of relevant experience. What would you want to know about the volume before accepting?

What they are checking: That they read the terms and think about workload realistically.

What would you do

A relationship manager pushes you to close a loan before a condition has cleared. What do you do?

What they are checking: Holding a control against internal sales pressure, the core risk in this seat.

You coordinate bookings and fundings with the Loan Operations department. What goes wrong at that handoff, and how do you prevent it?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the handoff to loan operations, where bookings and fundings most often go wrong, and take active steps to protect it.

You have service level agreements to meet and support several affiliated charters. How do you prioritize when three charters need a closing the same day?

What they are checking: Whether they can prioritize fairly across several affiliated charters with equal claims and still meet service levels without letting any one charter slip.

About the work

You would complete pre-closing file review to confirm every condition has been met. What is most commonly missing when a file reaches you?

What they are checking: Whether they have real closing experience and know where consumer loan files usually fall short, which shows they can catch gaps before closing day.

Walk me through how you review collateral documentation on a consumer loan before closing.

What they are checking: Whether they review collateral documents carefully and know what to verify, because a collateral mistake can leave the bank unsecured on the loan.

You would coordinate electronic closings through DocuSign and in-person closings through relationship managers. How does your preparation differ between those two?

What they are checking: Practical difference between the two closing paths named in the posting.

How do you keep loan documentation records accurate enough that an audit finds nothing?

What they are checking: Whether they treat accurate loan records as a real control, because clean documentation is what lets the bank pass an audit and defend a loan.
