Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

In women's health, patients may share very private information. How do you make them feel safe and protect their privacy?

What they are checking: Sensitivity and HIPAA awareness in a setting where trust affects whether patients share important history.

Tell me about a time a provider asked you to do something you weren't sure was in your scope. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they know the limits of their credential and will ask rather than guess.

Tell me about a time you made a mistake in patient care or charting. How did you handle it?

What they are checking: Honesty and quick reporting, which a clinic depends on to keep small errors from becoming harm.

What would you do

As a float, you could be in primary care in the morning and the Women's Health Center in the afternoon. How do you get up to speed fast in a new clinic?

What they are checking: Adaptability and how they learn each clinic's routines without slowing down providers or patients.

The clinic is running 40 minutes behind and patients are getting upset. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they manage patient flow and communicate honestly with patients while keeping the provider informed.

How do you balance the clinical work with scheduling, records and insurance forms when both pile up?

What they are checking: Organization across the dual clinical and administrative role the posting describes.

About the work

Walk me through how you room a patient, from the waiting room to handing off to the provider.

What they are checking: Whether their rooming is thorough and efficient, covering vitals, history, medications and the reason for the visit.

How do you set up for a procedure and keep the field sterile? What do you do if you think it's been contaminated?

What they are checking: Real understanding of aseptic technique and the honesty to speak up and restart when sterility is in doubt.

Before you give a medication or an injection, what checks do you go through?

What they are checking: Whether they follow the rights of medication administration every time, which is where serious errors are prevented.

A patient's blood pressure is much higher than usual when you room them. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they recheck correctly and escalate abnormal findings to the provider instead of just charting the number.
