Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Where are you in your path toward independent LCPC licensure, and what do you still need to complete?

What they are checking: Whether they understand their own licensure requirements and timeline clearly.

How do you prepare for clinical supervision, and how do you use the feedback you get?

What they are checking: Whether they come to supervision with real cases and questions and actually change their practice afterward.

Tell me about a client from your graduate training that challenged you and what you learned from it.

What they are checking: Whether they can reflect honestly on their own clinical growth instead of presenting only successes.

How do you know when a case is beyond your current skill level?

What they are checking: Whether they recognize their limits and seek help early, which matters most for counselors still in training.

How do you keep from taking difficult sessions home with you?

What they are checking: Whether they already have habits that protect against burnout early in a counseling career.

What would you do

This role starts in the office during the probationary period and then moves to a 50/50 hybrid model. How do you feel about that structure?

What they are checking: Whether they can commit to the in-office period and live close enough to make the hybrid model work.

A client in your first month tells you something that makes you worry about their safety, and your supervisor isn't available. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they know when to act on a safety protocol immediately and when to wait for supervision.

How would you handle a full caseload when you're still new to keeping up with documentation?

What they are checking: Whether they have a realistic plan for building documentation habits early before they become a problem.

About the work

How do you set up a telehealth session so it's private and safe for the client?

What they are checking: Whether they confirm location, privacy and emergency contacts at the start of every remote session.

What evidence-based approaches did you learn in your program that you feel most ready to use?

What they are checking: Whether they have practical command of at least a few core methods rather than only general theory.
