Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
The posting asks for two years in a supervisory role. Tell me about a hard staffing or performance problem you handled as a leader.
What they are checking: Whether they've actually done the leadership work the job requires, not just served as an informal charge nurse.
Tell me about a time you worked through a conflict between nursing and technologists.
What they are checking: Whether they can build teamwork across disciplines that share the same patient and the same room.
Tell me about a time you introduced a new protocol and got staff to actually follow it.
What they are checking: Whether they can lead change through teaching and follow-up instead of just sending an email.
What would you do
Radiologists are running behind, the inpatient units want their patients scanned, and outpatients are waiting. How do you set priorities?
What they are checking: Whether they can balance urgency, safety and flow across inpatient and outpatient demand in a busy department.
You're on call and get paged at night for an emergent case. How do you make sure the team is ready when the patient arrives?
What they are checking: Whether they can organize an on-call response quickly and think ahead about supplies, staff and handoff.
About the work
You'd coordinate nursing in diagnostic imaging at Edward Hospital. What do imaging nurses do day to day that floor nurses might not expect?
What they are checking: Whether they understand sedation, contrast, IV access and fast patient turnover that make imaging nursing its own specialty.
A patient has a contrast reaction in CT and starts wheezing. Walk me through what your team does.
What they are checking: Whether they know contrast reaction treatment and can lead a fast response, which is why ACLS is required here.
How do you screen patients for contrast and sedation risk before a procedure?
What they are checking: Whether they check kidney function, allergies, meds and airway risk so problems are prevented rather than treated.
How do you keep nurses competent on moderate sedation monitoring?
What they are checking: Whether they see ongoing training and audits as part of keeping sedated patients safe.
How would you measure whether patient experience in imaging is good or getting worse?
What they are checking: Whether they think in terms of data like wait times and complaints rather than only gut feeling.
