Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
How do you keep working knowledge of a broad product set current?
What they are checking: Whether they have a real habit for keeping product knowledge current, since clients expect accurate answers across a broad and changing set of banking products.
The posting says you proactively offer solutions or resources. How do you spot a need a client hasn't raised?
What they are checking: Whether they notice what a client might need beyond the question asked, because proactive help builds the relationship far more than closing tickets does.
How do you write an email to a client that answers the question without creating three more?
What they are checking: Whether they write clear, complete client emails that settle the question, because written replies are half this job and vague ones create more work.
What would you do
This role is the primary contact for day-to-day client inquiries by phone and email. Walk me through how you handle a client who has already been passed around twice.
What they are checking: Whether they take ownership of a problem that belongs to another team, because a client passed around twice needs one person to finish it.
You'd work across sales, credit, treasury management, loan operations and deposit operations to resolve inquiries. How do you get an answer out of a team that's busy?
What they are checking: Whether they can get answers out of busy internal teams politely and persistently, since resolving client issues across departments is most of this job.
A client asks something you don't know. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they check instead of guessing when they don't know, because a wrong answer on a banking question can cost a client real money.
How do you prioritize when several clients are waiting and one is louder than the others?
What they are checking: Whether they prioritize by urgency and impact rather than by who complains loudest, which keeps quieter clients with serious problems from being left waiting.
You notice the same problem coming in from several clients. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they spot a recurring problem and raise it to fix the cause, rather than quietly handling the same complaint from client after client.
The posting asks for one to three years of customer service experience, prefers banking, and lists a salary range of $50,000 to $65,000 in Rosemont. Does that fit?
What they are checking: Whether their experience and pay expectations genuinely fit the stated range and location, so neither side spends time on an offer that won't work.
About the work
The posting names core banking platforms such as FIS, FCM and Salesforce as preferred. Which have you used, and how quickly do you pick up a new system?
What they are checking: Whether they are honest about which banking systems they actually know and how fast they learn new ones, since the job runs inside those tools.
