Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about your driving record and any incidents. What did you learn from them?

What they are checking: Whether they are honest about their record and take safety seriously.

This is a part-time role. What schedule can you commit to, and how flexible are you during busy roofing season?

What they are checking: Whether their availability matches the branch's needs, which swing with the season.

Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer while on a delivery.

What they are checking: Whether they represent the company well, since drivers are often the face customers see.

What would you do

You arrive at a job site and power lines are close to where the contractor wants the shingles on the roof. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they refuse to boom near lines and find a safe alternative even if the customer is unhappy.

A homeowner comes out upset that materials are blocking their driveway. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they stay professional and solve the problem politely while following job directions.

The delivery ticket doesn't match what's on your truck. What do you do before leaving?

What they are checking: Whether they catch errors at the branch instead of discovering them at the customer.

How do you handle a pre-trip inspection when you find a minor defect and you're already running late?

What they are checking: Whether they put compliance and safety ahead of the schedule.

About the work

Walk me through the load check you'd do before leaving the branch.

What they are checking: Whether they secure loads and inspect the truck thoroughly, since a shifted load can kill someone.

You'll make both ground and rooftop deliveries. What does a safe work zone look like at a residential job site?

What they are checking: Whether they think about cones, overhead lines, bystanders and ground conditions.

Every delivery is documented with photos from the camera phone system. Why do you think that matters?

What they are checking: Whether they understand photos protect the company and customer in damage and shortage disputes.
