Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

You would create account-specific business plans with opportunity pipelines and growth targets. How do you keep a plan alive over a sales cycle that can take years?

What they are checking: Persistence and discipline in long-cycle selling.

Tell me about a national account you lost. What would you do differently?

What they are checking: Honest post-mortem on a deal at this scale.

Alto-Shaam is based in Menomonee Falls and is a manufacturer rather than a distributor. What difference does that make to how you would sell?

What they are checking: That they understand the company they would represent.

What would you do

This role pursues national account customers for commercial foodservice equipment. How do you get in front of a decision maker at a chain that already has an equipment supplier?

What they are checking: Opening a closed account, which is the whole job.

A national account rollout means every location changes at once. How does that change how you sell and what you promise?

What they are checking: Awareness of the operational risk a chain is taking.

How do you qualify out of a prospect that looks large but is not going to buy?

What they are checking: Discipline about where their time goes.

About the work

You would build relationships with executive leaders, culinary teams and operations teams inside one account. How do their priorities differ?

What they are checking: Understanding that a chain buys equipment through several very different lenses.

Walk me through a consultative discovery conversation with a chain evaluating new kitchen equipment.

What they are checking: Actual discovery method rather than product presentation.

How do you build a value case for equipment that costs more up front?

What they are checking: Total cost of ownership argument — labor, yield, energy, consistency.

What is happening in commercial foodservice right now that affects how chains buy equipment?

What they are checking: Market awareness — labor costs, menu changes, energy, off-premise volume.
