Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time a part kept coming out of tolerance. How did you fix it?

What they are checking: Whether they troubleshoot methodically across tooling, material and setup instead of guessing.

How do you stay safe around a press brake, especially when handling large or awkward parts?

What they are checking: Whether they respect pinch points and guarding, since press brakes can cause serious hand injuries.

How do you keep setups quick so the machine spends more time making parts?

What they are checking: Whether they think about efficiency and organize tooling to cut changeover time.

What would you do

You're on second shift and the print has a dimension that doesn't seem right. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they pause and confirm instead of running bad parts when engineering isn't nearby.

About the work

Walk me through how you set up a press brake for a new part from a print.

What they are checking: Whether they can choose tooling, set the back gauge and plan bends on their own instead of only running set jobs.

How do you decide the bend sequence on a part with several bends?

What they are checking: Whether they think ahead about tool clearance and part collisions, which the posting says this role determines.

What do you check on the first piece before running the rest of the batch?

What they are checking: Whether they verify angles and dimensions early so a whole run of scrap doesn't get made.

How do you account for springback when bending different materials and thicknesses?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how material behaves and can adjust rather than just following numbers.

What press brake controls or CNC systems have you worked with?

What they are checking: How quickly they can get up to speed on the equipment sizes and controls in this shop.

Besides bending, what experience do you have with punching or notching operations?

What they are checking: Whether they can cover the full range of fabrication operations listed for this role.
