About your past

This role splits time between clinic work with orthopedic physicians and school and community outreach. How do you adjust between those settings?

Tell me about a time you coordinated care for an injured athlete with a physician, a physical therapist and the family.

Tell me about a time you built trust with a coaching staff that did not initially value an athletic trainer.

What they are checking: Whether they can earn respect and influence decisions through relationships rather than authority.

What would you do

A coach wants a star player back in the game after an ankle injury, and you are not comfortable clearing them. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they protect the athlete's safety under pressure from coaches, parents and the athlete themselves.

It is a hot August practice and an athlete becomes confused and stops sweating. What do you do?

What is your emergency action plan process for a school, and how do you make sure staff actually know it?

What they are checking: Whether they prepare for rare but serious events like cardiac arrest or heat illness before they happen.

How do you approach return-to-play after an ACL reconstruction in a 16-year-old?

What they are checking: Whether they use criteria-based progression and understand re-injury risk in adolescents.

How do you document injuries and care when you are working out in the community instead of in a clinic?
