Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you took a consumer insight and turned it into an actual product concept. What was the insight, and how did you know it was real and not just a hunch?

whether the candidate can translate raw research into a commercially viable concept, not just recite consumer research theory

Tell me about a launch you worked on that involved people outside your immediate team, like R&D, sales, or an agency. What went wrong, and how did you handle it?

cross-functional collaboration skill and how they handle friction with partners they don't control

Have you ever shared accountability for a P&L or a business result with people who didn't report to you? How did you keep things moving when priorities didn't line up?

experience with shared ownership and influence without authority, which this role requires given global market share accountability

Tell me about a time you had to develop a brand story or claim that had to work in more than one market or region. What had to change, and what stayed the same?

ability to build scalable, ownable ideas that survive translation across markets rather than one-off local work

Tell me about a project where you had almost no clear direction at the start. How did you figure out what to do first?

comfort operating in ambiguity, which the posting explicitly calls out

Tell me about a time an agency partner pushed back on your creative direction, or you pushed back on theirs. How did that get resolved?

experience managing agency relationships and holding a point of view on creative work

Technical

How have you used AI tools in your marketing work so far, whether for insights, content, or campaign work? What did you trust the output for, and what did you double check?

actual hands-on AI fluency versus buzzword familiarity, and judgment about where AI output needs human scrutiny

What analytical tools or methods have you used to size an opportunity or track brand equity, and what's an example of a decision that data actually changed?

real analytical rigor versus claiming to be 'data-driven' without specifics

Situational

Say you're building an innovation platform for one of our brands, something like Glade or method, aimed at 2030 growth. How would you go about identifying the white space and deciding what to prioritize?

structured thinking around innovation strategy and prioritization frameworks under real category constraints

If R&D tells you a product idea you love isn't technically feasible at the cost target, what do you do next?

comfort partnering with technical teams and ability to problem-solve rather than just escalate or abandon an idea

Picture this: local and regional teams disagree on what problem a brand should solve next. Regional wants global consistency, local wants to chase a market-specific need. How do you work through that?

ability to navigate global-versus-local tension, a recurring theme in the job description

How would you think about weaving a sustainability angle into an innovation platform for one of our brands without it feeling like a bolt-on?

whether they can integrate sustainability meaningfully into brand strategy rather than treating it as a checkbox
