Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This role leads change strategies for finance transformation programs. What transformation change work have you led?

What they are checking: Whether they have led change work inside finance transformations specifically, since finance teams have their own pressures, culture and calendar.

You'd drive mindset and behavior change reinforcing continuous improvement and accountability. What actually changes a behavior at work?

What they are checking: A real opinion rather than the language of the posting

You'd partner with senior leaders to model desired ways of working. How do you tell a leader their own behavior is undermining the change?

What they are checking: Whether they can respectfully tell senior leaders when their behavior is hurting the change, which is uncomfortable but often necessary.

What would you do

You'd drive end-to-end adoption of new processes and operating models across people, process and technology. Which of those three usually gets neglected?

What they are checking: Whether they honestly recognize where transformation usually breaks down, showing experience rather than a textbook view of change.

Finance teams are often asked to change process while still closing the books. How do you handle that?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that finance must keep closing the books during change, so plans must respect that unavoidable workload.

A transformation program is behind and the change work is the first thing cut. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they can make a clear case for keeping change work when budgets tighten, since cutting it often causes projects to fail.

How do you sustain a change after the program team leaves?

What they are checking: Whether they plan for changes to last after the project team leaves, because many transformations quietly slide back to old ways.

This is based at North Chicago within an enterprise finance transformation. What would you want to know about the program and its leadership before you took it?

What they are checking: Whether they ask sensible questions about the program and its leaders before joining, showing they understand what makes transformations succeed.

About the work

You'd translate transformation objectives into clear behavioral expectations and adoption milestones. Give me an example of turning an objective into a behavior you could observe.

What they are checking: Whether they can turn broad program goals into specific behaviors people can see, which makes adoption measurable and real.

How do you measure adoption rather than awareness?

What they are checking: Whether they can measure real adoption rather than simple awareness, since change work is often judged on weak, activity-based measures.
