Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Tell me about a time you had to build a brand strategy or campaign using consumer insights and competitive analysis. What was the insight, and how did it change the plan?

whether the candidate can translate raw insight into a distinct, actionable brand strategy rather than repeating generic marketing language

Walk me through a new product you helped take from opportunity definition through commercialization. Where did you personally own the work, and where did you have to defer to R&D, finance, or legal?

real innovation experience versus surface familiarity with the stage-gate process, and self-awareness about scope of ownership

Tell me about a time you had to influence a decision on a cross-functional team when you had no formal authority over the people involved.

whether they can actually drive alignment across RD&E, insights, finance, and regional teams without a title to lean on

Describe a time a project you were leading had a lot of ambiguity, maybe unclear scope or conflicting inputs, and you had to move forward anyway.

tolerance for ambiguity and bias toward action versus waiting for perfect clarity

How have you contributed to or been accountable for a brand's P&L or market share, even if you weren't the final decision-maker?

whether they think commercially and connect their marketing work to business outcomes

Why insecticides, and why this brand portfolio specifically, rather than a category you might find more glamorous?

genuine motivation and whether they've thought about the category's realities, like seasonality, regulation, and global variance

Technical

How do you evaluate creative work coming back from an agency? Walk me through what you're checking for and how you give feedback that actually improves the next round.

depth of experience writing briefs and managing agency relationships, not just approving what's put in front of them

Tell me about managing an agency production budget or scope where things started to drift. How did you catch it and what did you do?

concrete experience with budget and scope discipline, not just creative oversight

What does a strong creative brief look like to you, and what's the most common mistake you see in briefs that leads to weak creative work?

whether they actually know how to write briefs that set agencies up to succeed, a core mechanical skill for this role

Situational

Raid and Baygon are global brands but insecticide needs and regulations differ a lot by market. How would you decide when to adapt a global creative asset for a local market versus holding the line on brand consistency?

judgment on global-local tension and whether they understand brand architecture as a decision framework, not just a style guide

Say you're partnering with RD&E and Legal to build a claims strategy for a new insecticide, and the science supports a claim but Legal thinks it's too aggressive for certain markets. How do you move that forward?

ability to navigate regulatory and legal friction on claims without either backing down entirely or overpromising

You're juggling an equity workstream and an innovation project at the same time, and both owners think their priority should come first this week. How do you decide what gets your attention?

prioritization instincts and comfort with the equity/innovation flex this role explicitly requires

If you found out midway through a project that a regional team had different assumptions about the target consumer than what was baked into the global brief, what would you do?

how they handle misalignment between global strategy and regional business context without derailing the timeline
