Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

You would present complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. How do you explain an architecture decision to a business leader?

What they are checking: Translation, named directly in the duties.

Tell me about a technical decision you disagreed with. What did you do?

What they are checking: Handling disagreement from an advisory position.

What would you do

You would translate business requirements into technical specifications. How do you handle a requirement that is really a solution someone has already chosen?

What they are checking: Separating need from preferred answer.

What they are checking: Adoption, the permanent problem in architecture roles.

How do you keep an architecture view current when systems change faster than documentation?

About the work

This role produces system, data and application architecture artifacts. What does a useful architecture artifact actually do for a project team?

What they are checking: Whether artifacts serve delivery or only governance.

The posting names TOGAF and the Zachman Framework. How much of a framework do you actually use day to day?

What they are checking: Pragmatism about frameworks rather than reciting them.

The posting mentions Orbus Infinity and ServiceNow's architecture workspace. What is a repository like that good for, and where does it go stale?

What they are checking: Honest view of a tool that often becomes shelfware.

Banking carries standards like Sarbanes-Oxley and payment card security. How do those shape an architecture decision?

What they are checking: Regulatory awareness applied concretely.
