Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you led a small team on a production or warehouse floor without being their supervisor.

What they are checking: Whether they can guide peers and keep work moving using influence rather than formal authority.

Tell me about a time you had to pass along a decision from management that your team didn't like.

What they are checking: Whether they can support decisions honestly and keep the team working without undermining their supervisor.

How do you balance doing pack work yourself with keeping an eye on the whole team?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that a lead's job is the team's output, not just their own count.

Tell me about a time you suggested an improvement to how work was done. Did it stick?

What they are checking: Whether they look for better ways to work and can follow through until a change actually holds.

What would you do

It's the start of 2nd shift and two people called off. How do you set up the pack area to still get orders out?

What they are checking: Whether they can re-plan quickly, set priorities and tell the supervisor what will and won't ship.

A packer on your shift keeps making labeling mistakes. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they coach directly and kindly, and know when to bring the supervisor in instead of ignoring it.

You see a teammate lifting unsafely or skipping a safety step to keep up. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they will stop unsafe work in the moment, which a lead must do even with friends.

About the work

How would you train a brand new packer on their first night?

What they are checking: Whether they can teach the job clearly and check understanding, since new people are where errors start.

How do you keep track of which orders are done, which are late, and which are next during a shift?

What they are checking: Whether they have a practical way to manage flow and communicate status, not just work harder themselves.

What do you tell the next shift or your supervisor at the end of the night?

What they are checking: Whether they hand off clearly, so problems and unfinished orders don't fall through the cracks between shifts.
