About your past

Tell me about a time you trained someone who was struggling. What did you change in your approach?

Do you have hands-on specimen processing experience, and why does that matter for this role?

Walk me through how you would plan the first week for a new specimen processor starting on the 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM shift.

Specimen processing errors went up in one area last month. How would you figure out if training is part of the cause?

A veteran processor tells new hires to skip a step because it is faster. How do you handle it?

How would you make the new hire experience positive on an overnight shift when fewer leaders are around?

What they are checking: Whether they think about support and belonging for night staff, who often feel forgotten.

How would you handle a manager who wants new hires on the floor before you think they are ready?

What they are checking: Whether they can push back with evidence while still helping meet staffing needs.

About the work

How would you know whether your training is actually working on the floor?

What they are checking: Whether they measure results like error rates and productivity, not just training completion.

How do you keep training records accurate for audits and competency requirements?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that documented training is required and inspectors will ask for it.
