Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
Tell me about a procedure you recommended changing. How did you get it approved?
What they are checking: Whether they suggest improvements and push them through formal change control, because in GMP manufacturing good ideas only count once they are properly approved.
Tell me about a time you made a documentation error in a batch record. How did you handle it?
What they are checking: Whether they correct batch record errors honestly using good documentation practice, since a hidden or messy correction can call a whole batch into question.
How do you train newer technicians on a complex step without slowing production down?
What they are checking: Whether they can teach complex steps clearly while production keeps moving, which is part of what makes a senior technician valuable to the floor.
What would you do
You notice a reading in the automated control system drifting out of range mid-batch. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they know when to stop, document and escalate a drifting reading rather than adjusting on their own, which keeps batches compliant under cGMP.
About the work
Walk me through scaling a cell culture from vial thaw to the production bioreactor. Where are the riskiest points?
What they are checking: Whether they know the seed train steps and where contamination or cell health risks peak, since failures late in scale-up cost entire batches.
How do you run CIP and SIP on a vessel, and how do you know the cycle was successful?
What they are checking: Whether they understand CIP and SIP cycles and how temperature, time and conductivity records prove a vessel is truly clean and sterile.
Explain how you set up and run a tangential flow filtration step. What do you watch during the run?
What they are checking: Whether they can set up and run tangential flow filtration, watching pressure, flux and integrity, since mistakes there can lose product or damage membranes.
What can go wrong during column packing or a chromatography run, and how would you spot it?
What they are checking: Whether they can recognize packing problems, pressure changes and abnormal chromatograms early, before a bad run costs valuable product or compromises quality.
How do you use LIMS and SAP in your day-to-day work on the floor?
What they are checking: Whether they are comfortable using LIMS and SAP for samples, materials and transactions, since mistakes in those systems can hold up release of a batch.
What steps do you take to prevent contamination in buffer and media prep?
What they are checking: Whether they practice careful aseptic technique during buffer and media prep, since contamination there can ruin a downstream batch worth a great deal.
