Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a recent technical search you owned start to finish, from intake with the hiring manager to offer. What made it hard?

whether they truly run full-cycle searches versus just screening candidates others source

Tell me about a role where inbound applicants and agency pipelines weren't cutting it. What did you do to build a proactive pipeline?

real sourcing skill and creativity, not reliance on job boards

Describe a time you disagreed with a hiring manager about a candidate's technical ability or fit. What happened?

backbone and diplomacy when pushing back on a hiring manager

You've worked in both agency and corporate recruiting. What did each teach you that the other didn't, and how does that show up in how you work now?

whether the mixed background actually translated into a broader skill set, as the posting explicitly wants

Describe a moment you helped a teammate on the recruiting team even though it didn't move your own numbers forward.

team-first orientation versus a purely individual-metrics mindset

Technical

How do you figure out what 'great' looks like for a technical role you don't have deep domain expertise in, say a quant developer or infrastructure engineer?

ability to build technical fluency quickly and partner with hiring managers rather than parrot a job description

Tell me about the behavioral interview questions you rely on most and what you're actually listening for in the answers.

depth of behavioral interviewing skill versus surface-level familiarity

How have you used tools like Codility or CoderPad in your process, and how do you weigh those results against everything else you know about a candidate?

hands-on fluency with technical assessment tools and how they're integrated into a holistic decision

What do you actually know about how a prop trading firm or quant hedge fund's technology function differs from tech at a typical company, and how does that change who you go after?

genuine domain knowledge of prop trading or quant hedge fund tech organizations versus generic recruiting language

Give me an example of using AI in your recruiting workflow. What did it do for you and where did you still need to step in yourself?

practical, current use of AI in recruiting rather than a buzzword answer

Situational

Say a hiring manager wants to hire an Associate Engineer and a Principal Engineer at the same time with very different sourcing needs. How do you prioritize your time across those two searches plus three others on your desk?

organizational capacity and judgment under competing priorities

What's your process for a debrief and calibration session when interviewers walk out with conflicting read on a candidate?

skill facilitating alignment among stakeholders, not just collecting scorecards

Tell me about a time a search stalled and the hiring manager was getting frustrated. How did you handle the relationship and get things moving again?

urgency, ownership, and stakeholder management under pressure

A candidate you're excited about gets a competing offer with a tight deadline while your internal process still needs another debrief round. What do you do?

ability to balance candidate experience, process integrity, and urgency simultaneously
