Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This rotational program moves you through nine departments from logistics through assembly, honing, testing and several quality functions. Which rotation are you most looking forward to, and which do you expect to find hardest?

What they are checking: That they read the curriculum and thought about it honestly.

The quality warranty rotation covers root cause analysis on returned product. Tell me about tracing a problem back to its cause on the floor.

What they are checking: Investigative instinct, which is what the program is trying to develop.

You would work alongside experienced team members with a dedicated mentor in each area. How do you get the most out of someone who has done a job for twenty years?

What they are checking: How they learn from people, which decides whether a rotation is useful.

The program is described as developing future leaders in manufacturing. What does a good shop floor leader do that a good operator does not?

What they are checking: Their own idea of leadership on a production floor.

What do you want to be doing at the end of this program?

What they are checking: Whether they have a direction, since the program is a means rather than an end.

This program is open only to current HydraForce employees in good standing, in Lincolnshire. What have you done in your current role that makes the case for it?

What they are checking: That they can point to a track record inside the company, which is the actual entry requirement.

What would you do

Rotating through nine departments means being new nine times. How do you handle being the least experienced person in a room repeatedly?

What they are checking: Comfort with the specific discomfort this program creates.

In the testing rotation you would verify product performance. What do you do if a part passes the test but something about it seems wrong to you?

What they are checking: Willingness to raise a concern that the process did not flag.

About the work

The honing rotation covers a specific machining process for hydraulic components. What do you already understand about how surface finish affects a hydraulic part?

What they are checking: Baseline manufacturing knowledge, since this program builds on shop floor experience.

How is inspection in the quality rotation different from the checks an assembler does at their own station?

What they are checking: Understanding of where quality sits relative to production.
