Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
Behavioral
Walk me through how you manage a full recruiting cycle from the moment a hiring manager gives you a req to the day someone is ready for hire.
whether the candidate actually owns process end to end versus just doing pieces of it
Tell me about a time a hiring manager wanted something that didn't match market reality, like a salary or a skill set that was hard to find. What did you do?
ability to push back on stakeholders with data instead of just complying or complaining
Tell me about a candidate experience that went badly. What happened and what would you do differently now?
self-awareness and whether they actually learn from candidate-facing mistakes
Technical
What sourcing channels have you used beyond job boards, and can you give an example of finding a hard to fill candidate through one of them?
real hands-on sourcing skill versus just posting and waiting for applicants
How do you screen for cultural fit without just hiring people who remind you of yourself?
awareness of bias in screening and a repeatable, fair method
What do you know about employment law that a recruiter absolutely cannot get wrong, like something around EEO or interview questions?
baseline compliance knowledge and whether they treat it as a real risk, not trivia
Which ATS systems have you worked in, and tell me about a time bad data in the ATS caused a problem you had to fix.
practical system fluency and attention to data accuracy, not just tool name recognition
How have you used LinkedIn or other social platforms to build an employer brand, not just to post jobs?
whether their branding experience is strategic or just reactive posting
Tell me about a recruitment metric or report you've pulled and what you actually did with the results.
whether they treat reporting as a tool for decisions or just a task to complete
Situational
Say you're managing requisitions for two different hiring managers who both need candidates by end of week, and you're also prepping for a job fair. How do you decide what gets your time?
prioritization and time management under real competing deadlines
Imagine a hiring manager keeps rejecting candidates for vague reasons after three rounds and the role has been open two months. What do you say to them?
comfort having direct, uncomfortable conversations with internal stakeholders
Describe a time you had to adjust your recruiting strategy midstream because something wasn't working. What tipped you off and what did you change?
adaptability and problem-solving in a fast-paced, changing environment
