Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you found a supply problem before it affected anyone.

What they are checking: Whether they notice small issues early instead of waiting for a clinician to run out.

How would you learn the names and uses of hundreds of surgical supplies you've never seen before?

What they are checking: Whether they have a practical learning approach for a role full of unfamiliar product names.

Tell me about a job where accuracy mattered more than speed. How did you keep from making mistakes?

What they are checking: Whether they have habits like double-checking that prevent errors in detail-heavy work.

What would you do

A surgeon needs a specific implant or device that isn't on the shelf and the case starts in an hour. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can move fast to locate, borrow or expedite an item while keeping staff informed.

This is a casual position. How available are you, and how do you stay sharp when you're not working every week?

What they are checking: Whether they can be reliable and keep up with changes despite an irregular schedule.

A nurse is short with you because something she needed wasn't stocked. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they stay calm and focus on fixing the problem rather than getting defensive.

About the work

You'd support Surgical Services, the Cath Lab and interventional areas. How do you keep supplies stocked when each area has different needs?

What they are checking: Whether they understand par levels and area-specific supply needs in high-stakes procedural departments.

How do you handle expiration dates and stock rotation in a supply room?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that an expired item reaching a patient is a real safety risk.

What experience do you have with inventory systems, scanning or reorder tools?

What they are checking: Whether they can work accurately in the systems that track supplies and trigger orders.

Why does it matter to get the right pediatric size of a supply, not just the right item?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that wrong sizes in a children's hospital can delay or endanger care.
