Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you translated a messy business process into clear requirements for an IT team.

What they are checking: The core of this role, turning what planners actually do into something a planning tool can support.

Describe a project you coordinated across several functions. How did you keep it on schedule?

What they are checking: Project discipline with stakeholders who have competing priorities and no reporting line to them.

Tell me about a time you had to learn a new business area quickly in order to do your job.

What they are checking: Learning speed, since this role spans supply chain, operations, sales, rental and IT.

What would you do

You are gathering requirements and Sales and Operations each describe the same process differently. How do you get to one version?

What they are checking: Whether they can surface real disagreement and drive alignment rather than writing down whatever the last person said.

The Rental team says the new planning tool does not fit how they work. What do you do?

What they are checking: Handling change resistance by learning the real gap rather than forcing adoption or bending the design for one group.

A requirement you wrote turns out to be wrong after development started. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Ownership of mistakes and the ability to correct course without losing the team's trust.

About the work

Explain how you understand Sales and Operations Planning, and where demand, supply, inventory and factory planning connect.

What they are checking: Whether they see S&OP as one integrated decision process, not five separate plans stapled together.

What planning or orchestration tools have you worked with, and what did you learn about where they help and where they fall short?

What they are checking: Realistic experience with digital planning systems and an honest view of their limits.

How would you document a current-state planning process so people who did not build it can understand it?

What they are checking: Skill at process mapping that captures handoffs, decisions and data sources clearly.

How would you know whether a new S&OP capability is actually improving decisions after it goes live?

What they are checking: Whether they define measurable outcomes like forecast accuracy or plan adherence instead of calling go-live the finish line.
