Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

You would manage up to 35 employees and contract workers in picking. Tell me about the largest team you have led and how you kept track of everyone.

What they are checking: Whether they have real experience running a floor of that size and a system for knowing how each person is doing.

Tell me about a time you had to correct someone's performance. How did you handle the conversation?

What they are checking: Whether they address problems directly and fairly, with clear expectations and follow-up.

How do you manage a mix of direct employees and contract workers so both groups feel part of the same team?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead fairly across employment types without creating a two-tier floor.

Tell me about a quality problem, like repeated mis-picks, that you traced back to a root cause.

What they are checking: Whether they solve the underlying process problem instead of only blaming the person who made the error.

How do you keep engagement up on repetitive work like picking?

What they are checking: Whether they understand retention and morale drive productivity on a distribution floor.

What would you do

Halfway through the shift, picks per hour are well below target. Walk me through what you do.

What they are checking: Whether they go find the actual obstacle on the floor instead of just pushing people to work faster.

You see an associate taking a safety shortcut to keep up with their rate. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether safety actually comes before productivity for them when the two pull against each other.

A big order spike lands and you are short three people. How do you assign the day's work?

What they are checking: Whether they can prioritize, cross-utilize people and communicate clearly under pressure.

About the work

Which picking KPIs would you look at first thing in the morning, and what would make you change the plan for the day?

What they are checking: Whether they read productivity and accuracy numbers early and adjust staffing before the shift falls behind.

How do you onboard and train a new picker so they are accurate before they are fast?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that mis-picks cost more than slow picks and build training around that.
