Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you found a technologist cutting corners on a procedure. How did you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they protect quality and patient safety while still treating the staff member fairly and privately.

Tell me about a process improvement you led in a diagnostic department. What changed and how did you know?

What they are checking: Whether they act as a real member of management who improves operations and measures the outcome.

What have you done to support a new tech learning pediatric neurodiagnostics on nights?

What they are checking: Whether they invest in developing staff even on an off-shift where formal training is thin.

What would you do

This is a 4p to 2a night shift. How do you lead a team when most of management is gone for the day?

What they are checking: Whether they can make sound calls on their own and keep standards up when no one is watching.

During a long-term video EEG, you see what looks like an electrographic seizure but the nurse hasn't noticed anything. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they know when and how to escalate findings fast, since a missed seizure can harm a child.

A parent is anxious and keeps asking you what the EEG shows. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they stay within their scope and refer results to the physician while still comforting the family.

An urgent EEG request comes in from the ICU while your only other tech is tied up with a long study. How do you decide what happens?

What they are checking: Whether they can prioritize urgent clinical needs against scheduled work and communicate the plan clearly.

About the work

Walk me through how you would run and monitor a routine EEG on a toddler who won't keep the electrodes on.

What they are checking: Whether they have hands-on pediatric technique and patience to get a usable study from an uncooperative child.

How do you tell real brain activity apart from artifact like movement, sweat or equipment noise on a pediatric recording?

What they are checking: Whether they have the technical judgment to flag real problems and avoid false alarms for the reading physician.

How do you stay on top of credentialing, competencies and continuing education for a neurodiagnostic team?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that compliance with hospital and regulatory rules depends on tracking credentials and skills reliably.

How do you keep electrodes, equipment and infection control up to standard on a busy night?

What they are checking: Whether they treat equipment care and cleaning as part of patient safety, not as an afterthought.
