Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

What do you think product management means at a clearinghouse, where the customers are clearing members and exchanges rather than consumers?

What they are checking: Whether they can adapt their idea of product work to a B2B, highly regulated market utility.

Tell me about a time you gathered requirements from people who wanted different things. How did you settle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance competing stakeholders, which is most of what a product intern actually does.

Tell me about a product or project you worked on where you had to make a tradeoff between speed and quality.

What they are checking: Whether they can explain the reasoning behind a tradeoff rather than claiming they never had to make one.

What's a financial product or app you use, and what would you change about it?

What they are checking: Whether they think like a product person naturally, noticing friction and reasoning about why it exists.

What would you do

If an exchange wanted to list a new type of options product, what questions would you ask before OCC agreed to clear it?

What they are checking: Whether they think about risk, operations and regulatory approval alongside the commercial upside.

You're asked to research how other clearinghouses handle a feature. How do you structure what you find?

What they are checking: Whether they can produce a useful comparison with a recommendation instead of a pile of notes.

A developer tells you a requirement you wrote is unclear and they built the wrong thing. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they take ownership and fix the communication gap instead of blaming the reader.

About the work

How does OCC make money and who relies on its services day to day?

What they are checking: Whether they did real research on the business model before asking to help shape its products.

How would you write a user story for a feature that lets clearing members see their margin requirement during the day?

What they are checking: Whether they can turn a need into clear, testable requirements a development team could build from.

How would you decide whether a product change was successful after launch?

What they are checking: Whether they define measurable outcomes upfront rather than judging success by the launch itself.
